Patient Pathway Assistant – Diabetes & Endocrinology | Southend Hospital
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Diabetes and Endocrinology team at Southend Hospital as a Patient Pathway Assistant.
This is a varied and rewarding role that requires a motivated and organised individual who thrives in a busy environment. You will provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to Consultants and the wider clinical team, ensuring the smooth coordination of patient pathways and supporting the delivery of high-quality care.
We are looking for a strong team player who is flexible, proactive, and able to work effectively under pressure. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be a key point of contact for patients, colleagues, and external stakeholders, ensuring a professional and compassionate service at all times.

Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to Consultants within the Diabetes and Endocrine service and their wider team.
Manage clinic administration, including scheduling appointments, coordinating patient pathways and handling correspondence.
Ensure accurate and timely typing, formatting and distribution of clinical letters, reports and documentation.
Act as a key point of contact for patients, GPs and other healthcare professionals, maintaining clear and professional communication.
Maintain and update patient records in line with Trust policies, ensuring confidentiality and data accuracy at all times.
Support the smooth day‑to‑day running of the service, responding flexibly to changing demands and priorities.
Assist with the coordination of multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and related administrative tasks.
Undertake additional administrative duties as required to support service delivery and meet operational needs.
