Aircraft Mechanic – Base Maintenance
Connect 4 Aviation has an exciting opportunity for experienced B1 Mechanics to join a leading aircraft maintenance organisation in St Athan, Wales.
This is a permanent opportunity working within a busy Part-145 base maintenance environment, supporting scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activity on commercial aircraft.

Salary: £33,000 plus £3,000 shift premium per annum
Department: Production
Reports to: Production Manager
Shift Pattern:
Monday to Sunday, working either 5 days or 4 days depending on shift pattern.
Hours:
07:00 – 17:45 or 07:00 – 18:15, depending on shift.
Seasonal Attendance:
1 September to 31 May, plus 10 days refresher training every August.
The Role
The successful candidate will support aircraft maintenance activity under the direction of a Supervisor, Engineer or Technician.
You will be responsible for completing maintenance tasks in line with Part-145 standards, internal procedures and customer service level agreements, while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and engineering practice.
This role will involve supporting defect rectification, inspections, repairs, overhaul work and modification activity within a base maintenance environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Carry out aircraft maintenance tasks in accordance with approved procedures.
- Apply Human Factors principles throughout all maintenance activity.
- Use correctly maintained personal tools, approved company tooling and calibrated test equipment.
- Support aircraft maintenance activity under the direction of your Supervisor.
- Complete all maintenance paperwork and forms accurately and before the end of shift.
- Inform the Bay Manager, Engineer or Technician of any issues affecting safety, productivity or work progress.
- Ensure unused materials are correctly processed and returned to Stores where practical.
- Follow correct disposal instructions at all times.
- Ensure aircraft components and tooling are correctly stored, protected, labelled and blanked where required.
- Maintain high standards of hangar housekeeping, workplace cleanliness and FOD prevention.
- Recommend improvements to working conditions, practices and procedures where appropriate.
- Assist with hangar facility maintenance and general tasks when required.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties in line with business needs.
Requirements
- Must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
- Please note this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
- Minimum 3 years’ aviation maintenance experience, including time served during an apprenticeship.
- Experience within a Part-145 or equivalent maintenance organisation.
- Ability to use recognised aircraft documentation.
- Broad skill set across aircraft systems, including rigging, component replacement and modification embodiment.
- Basic knowledge of aircraft systems.
- Basic structural knowledge, including repairs.
- Strong safety-first approach and attention to quality.
Qualifications & Training
- Recognised aeronautical training such as City & Guilds Level 3, BTEC Level 3, university degree or aeronautical apprenticeship programme.
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or above, including Maths and English Language.
- Initial Human Factors.
- EWIS.
- Fuel Tank Safety.
Pay: £35,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
