A privately owned student accommodation provider is looking for a Cleaner / Housekeeper (with Caretaking Duties) to join its team at Herbal Hill Studios in Farringdon.
The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and short-stay guests. This is primarily a cleaning and housekeeping position, with some general caretaking responsibilities to support the day-to-day operation of the building.
You will work alongside the wider Herbal Hill team and be expected to provide excellent customer service while ensuring the building is maintained to a consistently high standard.
Cleaning & Housekeeping
- Clean and maintain all communal areas, including corridors, stairwells, reception areas and shared facilities.
- Sweep, vacuum and mop floors.
- Clean and sanitise communal toilets and replenish consumables such as toilet paper, hand soap and paper towels.
- Empty bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Ensure all communal areas are clean, safe and well presented at all times.
- Report any maintenance issues or health and safety concerns identified during cleaning.
Short-Stay Studio Turnovers
When required, prepare studio apartments for incoming guests by:
- Completing a full clean of the studio, including the kitchen and bathroom.
- Making beds with fresh linen and replacing towels.
- Replenishing tea, coffee and other guest amenities.
- Checking that the studio is clean, fully stocked and ready for arrival.
- Reporting any damage, maintenance issues or missing items.
Caretaking & General Duties
- Provide a friendly and professional service to residents, guests, contractors and visitors.
- Respond to resident enquiries and report maintenance requests to the management team.
- Carry out routine inspections of communal areas and report hazards or defects.
- Undertake minor maintenance tasks where appropriate.
- Receive and manage post and parcel deliveries.
- Assist with property viewings, room set-ups and other operational tasks as required.
- Record cleaning, maintenance and inspection activities where necessary.
- Attend mandatory training, including health & safety and safeguarding.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties to support the smooth running of the accommodation.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous cleaning, housekeeping or hospitality experience (preferred).
- Have excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
- Be reliable, organised and able to work independently.
- Have good communication and customer service skills.
- Be physically able to carry out manual cleaning duties.
- Be confident using basic computer systems, including Microsoft Office.
Pay: From £13.00 per hour
