Role Overview
The Social Media Lead owns the strategic and creative direction of our owned social channels across UNREEL, Auto All Stars, and the wider Extreme Media Network. You will be the primary public voice and on-camera personality for our channels, driving a pivot to original, human-led content that the algorithms reward and audiences love. You will work across the team to blend our licensed content heritage with a growing slate of original IP.

Strategic Responsibilities
- Own and execute the content strategy across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube for all owned channels.
- Lead the pivot to an 80/20 model: 80% licensed/curated content with meaningful transformation, 20% original IP tested and scaled.
- Identify and develop repeatable original formats — talking-head curation series, street-style interviews, weekly roundups — that build channel identity and algorithmic favour.
- Monitor platform algorithm changes and proactively adapt strategy, particularly Instagram Explore suppression and TikTok FYP eligibility rules affecting unoriginal content.
- Set weekly content priorities and brief the Production Lead and Content Editor on required outputs. Deliver weekly performance reports with platform data, growth metrics, and strategic recommendations.
On-Camera & Original Content
- Appear as an on-camera host or presenter for original video formats, face-to-camera intros, commentary overlays, and curated roundup series.
- Develop a consistent on-screen persona that builds audience loyalty and bypasses algorithmic suppression of unoriginal content.
- Script, shoot (where appropriate), and direct original short-form content in collaboration with the Content and Production Lead.
- Champion the creation of original carousels, text-based posts, and photo essays to diversify content mix across platforms.
Licensing & Transformation
- Apply the 'meaningful transformation' standard to all licensed content — every piece must include added value: host commentary, graphic overlays, data visualisations, or side-by-side format treatment.
- Manage content licensing workflows and ensure copyright compliance across all platforms.
- Oversee creator partnerships and influencer outreach to support original and hybrid content pipelines.
Team & Collaboration
- Lead daily standups, set Asana tasks, and ensure the team has clear daily priorities.
- Work closely with the Account Manager to align owned channel activity with client deliverables.
- Provide direction to editors on style, tone, and platform-specific optimisation.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience running and growing social channels — ideally for a media brand, publisher, or content network.
- Comfortable on camera — natural, engaging, and able to build a following through personality.
- Deep platform knowledge: you understand why certain content gets pushed, throttled, or monetised differently.
- Strategic thinker who can balance short-term output with long-term brand building.
- Strong communicator with the ability to brief and lead a small team.
A qualification in Media Production, Communications, Digital Production/Publishing, or related field is not mandatory, but nice to have.
Personal Characteristics:
- Be a good problem solver, with a passion for storytelling and innovation.
- The ability to interact with internal and external people and partners at all levels.
- Exceptional team leadership skills.
- Great time management and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to nuance messaging of complex topics for different audiences.
- Understanding of consumer trends and spotting them as they emerge.
- Be a positive and energetic team player – be someone we would want to go on a road trip with across Europe and ride mountain bikes.
This role requires a proactive and adaptable approach, with flexibility to occasionally adjust working hours in line with content schedules, major campaigns, or key business priorities
