Job Title: Primary Learning Mentor (KS1 & KS2)
Location: Burnley
Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 8:15am – 4:00pm (one day per week finishing at 3:45pm)
Contract: Temporary, long-term
Start Date: September 2026 (or earlier if available)
A welcoming and well-established primary school in Burnley is seeking a committed Learning Mentor to join their team on a long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, helping them develop the confidence, emotional wellbeing and skills they need to flourish in school.
About the Role:
Working closely with teaching staff and parents, you will provide tailored support to pupils who may require additional guidance to fully engage with their learning. Your focus will be on building positive relationships, encouraging personal growth and creating opportunities for every child to thrive.
You will be responsible for:
- Delivering targeted support to pupils who require additional encouragement and guidance.
- Helping children develop positive attitudes towards learning and school life.
- Supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs in a calm and nurturing manner.
- Acting as a trusted adult and positive role model throughout the school day.
- Liaising with families and professionals to ensure children receive consistent support.
- Contributing to the school’s inclusive approach to pupil wellbeing and achievement.
- Encouraging independence, resilience and self-confidence in all pupils.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold a Level 3 qualification or equivalent relevant qualification.
- Have previous experience working with primary-aged children in an educational setting.
- Be skilled at building strong, professional relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- Have a good understanding of the challenges some children face and how best to support them.
- Be adaptable, patient and able to remain positive in challenging situations.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate a genuine passion for supporting children’s personal and educational development.
- Be committed to becoming a valued and reliable member of the school community.
Essential Requirements
- Enhanced DBS Certificate for the Child Workforce registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Right to Work in the UK.
- Ability to reliably travel to Burnley each day.
- Previous experience working with children in a school or similar educational environment.
