Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Weekend Café Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food and beverages, and ensuring the café operates smoothly during weekend shifts. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering a welcoming atmosphere and maintaining high standards of food safety. Previous experience in a café or food service environment is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Duties
- Serve customers courteously at the counter and tables, taking orders accurately
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and speciality drinks
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, or baked goods
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, dining areas, and equipment in compliance with food safety standards
- Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system
- Restock supplies and ensure the café is tidy and welcoming at all times
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure efficient service
Skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Barista experience or familiarity with coffee-making equipment is desirable
- Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment
- Basic food preparation skills
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
- Basic maths skills for handling cash and processing transactions accurately
- Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks efficiently while maintaining high standards of service
