About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Resident Handyperson to join our Facilities Management team based at Argyle House, Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled maintenance professional looking for a long-term opportunity, with the potential of a permanent position for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks.
- Perform fault finding, diagnosis, repairs, and general building maintenance.
- Complete maintenance records accurately using PDA and CAFM systems.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and plant faults.
- Identify defects, failures, and improvement opportunities across the site.
- Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with company procedures.
- Conduct Point of Work Risk Assessments (POWRA) before commencing work.
- Complete Method Statements and Risk Assessments as required.
- Maintain plant rooms and work areas in a clean and tidy condition.
- Supervise contractors and subcontractors undertaking works on site.
- Escort contractors and provide access when required.
- Monitor heating oil levels and arrange ordering when necessary.
- Support contractor inductions and permit-to-work processes.
- Ensure compliance with contractual KPIs and SLAs.
- Participate in an out-of-hours standby/call-out rota.
- Undertake additional maintenance duties as reasonably requested by management.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience within Facilities Management, Building Maintenance, or a similar environment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience carrying out general maintenance and repair works.
- Full clean UK driving licence.
- Good IT skills and experience using electronic reporting systems.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out maintenance duties.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Flexible approach and willingness to participate in an on-call rota.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Facilities Management experience.
- Health & Safety knowledge.
- Legionella Awareness certification.
- Asbestos Awareness certification.
- MEWP Licence.
- First Aid qualification.
Training can be provided for the right candidate where required.
