We are opening a new children’s home registered for two young people requiring intensive, short-term support (3–6 month placements). The home will operate with a 2:1 staffing ratio, providing high levels of therapeutic intervention and consistent care. This specialist setting is designed to stabilise placements, reduce risk, and support young people to transition successfully into a suitable longer-term children’s home.

Role Overview
As a Residential Support Worker, you will provide consistent care, guidance, and emotional support while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualised care plans and therapeutic strategies.
Your empathy, resilience, and strong communication skills will be essential in managing challenging behaviours and supporting each child’s emotional, social, and developmental progress.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and supervision to children with challenging behaviour and complex needs.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with the children, fostering a sense of trust and security.
- Implement and follow individualised care plans, ensuring the needs of each child are met.
- Manage and respond to challenging behaviour using appropriate strategies and interventions.
- Support children in their educational, social, and recreational activities.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in regular training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, external agencies, and families to ensure a holistic approach to care.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working with children, particularly those with challenging behaviour and complex needs.
- Relevant qualifications in Residential Child Care, Social Work, Psychology, or related fields are desirable but not essential.
- Strong understanding of child development and the impact of trauma and adverse experiences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
