Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated, caring, and reliable Passenger Assistant to join our school transport team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting children and young people during their journey to and from school, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and comfort at all times. This includes working with pupils who may have special educational needs (SEN), disabilities, behavioural needs, or other vulnerabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist children and young people during transportation to and from school, ensuring their safety and wellbeing throughout the journey.
- Ensure all passengers are seated safely and seatbelts are secured in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.
- Maintain a calm and positive environment within the vehicle, helping to manage behaviour appropriately and reporting any concerns when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, parents/carers, schools, and transport coordinators to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the service.
- Be attentive to the individual needs of each child, following care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures where applicable.
- Ensure all safeguarding and health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements
- An Enhanced DBS check is essential.
- PATS (Passenger Assistant Training Scheme) certification is advantageous but not essential, as training may be provided.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with children, parents, school staff, and colleagues.
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements and disability awareness is desirable.
- A patient, caring, and professional approach with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
Pay: From £120.00 per week
