Role: Deputy Manager
Location: Crawley
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm + on call on a rota basis.
Salary: £35-40k depending on experience.
Nelbro Group are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to work alongside the Registered Manager at our brand-new OFSTED registered Children's Home in Wallington.
You will be a key part of the leadership team, supporting our children to lead a meaningful and happy life. You will take responsibility for supporting the physical, mental, and social needs of our children, whilst at the same time building excellent personal relationships with them.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- To provide managerial leadership to the day-to-day operation the home.
- Provide, assess, and plan for the needs of the children.
- To undertake specialist assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the service user care needs.
- Facilitate and attend meetings and appointments for all children.
- Ownership of Service User files – inc. drafting & updating of Risk Assessments, PBS, Care Plans, Education, and all other service user documents.
- To supervise and manage the daily workload in the home.
- To support the recruitment of and to manage team staff, including regular 1:1 supervision, coaching, appraisal, team building, training, and development.
- To support new staff members with a thorough induction to the service.
- Manage the care team to work effectively and efficiently according to the job roles.
- Support with the health and safety in the home
- Support with activity planning and enhancing the children's experience.
- Support with the children's appointments
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
- Ensure any maintenance issues are reported to maintenance manager.
- Adhere to professional standards and legislation in relation to our Ofsted requirements.
- Adhere to relevant legal and statutory requirements including the Data Protection Act (always ensuring appropriate level of confidentiality), Health and Safety at Work Act and any other relevant law/legislation.

Person Specification:
- Relevant health or social care qualification (NVQ Level 4 or 5) or other professional qualifications.
- Management experience within a registered children’s home environment
- Excellent organisation and written and verbal communication skills including the ability to listen attentively to others.
- Ability to collaborate and work professionally with service users, families, and involved professionals/agencies to provide a service which maximises outcomes for service users.
- Experience of supervising and supporting staff and deploying staff resources efficiently to meet the needs of the service.
- Ability to conduct holistic needs and risk assessments with service users and devise support and risk management plans.
- Committed to promoting choice, personalised support and maintaining the rights of people with disabilities.
- IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). With the ability to maintain clear and accurate written and electronic records and follow statutory reporting procedures and
- Ability to build positive working relationships with customers, their families, care staff and other health and social care professionals.
- Confidence in training and developing staff members to improve performance and ensure compliance.
- Ability to think clearly when under pressure. Comfortable using own initiative to solve problems.
