The role:_ Electrical Design Manager – London Projects_
Designer Group is hiring an experienced Electrical Design Manager to lead electrical engineering delivery across major M&E construction projects in London and the South East.
This role is ideal for a senior electrical engineer or design manager with a background in building services, MEP contracting, or M&E project delivery, looking to take ownership of design from preconstruction through to commissioning.
You will play a key role in ensuring electrical systems are technically robust, buildable, compliant, and aligned to programme and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design coordination from tender stage through to project completion
- Manage and review electrical design drawings, technical submissions, and BIM models
- Work closely with preconstruction and estimation teams to support value engineering and design development
- Oversee and challenge external design consultants and subcontractors
- Ensure all electrical designs meet BS7671 (18th Edition), NICEIC, and project specifications
- Provide technical support on-site throughout construction and commissioning phases
- Support testing, commissioning, and QA/QC processes
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to ensure efficient project delivery
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, processes, and quality systems
- Mentor and support junior and graduate engineers
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical engineering within M&E / building services / construction
- Proven experience as an Electrical Design Manager, Senior Electrical Engineer, or similar role
- Strong understanding of electrical building services systems (LV/HV, lighting, fire alarm, power distribution)
- Experience working on commercial, infrastructure, or data centre projects
- Ability to manage design consultants and subcontractors
- Strong knowledge of BS7671, NICEIC requirements, and UK regulations
- Experience with BIM, technical design review, and project delivery environments
- Degree or HNC in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification
