Experience in district heating, solar, EV infrastructure, retrofit or wider decentralised energy solutions.

Knowledge of Energy Service Companies (ESCOs), heat zoning and local authority net zero strategies.

Experience negotiating contracts with a lifetime value exceeding £100 million.

Technical understanding of renewable energy systems and smart energy technologies.

Knowledge of UK energy policy, funding mechanisms and public sector procurement.

Experience working within place-based partnerships, strategic city programmes or regeneration initiatives.
This key commercial origination role within the Coventry Strategic Energy Partnership (SEP) focuses on identifying and securing energy infrastructure projects across E.ON’s full product range, serving both public and private sectors. As the One Cities model expands, the role may extend to other city partnerships. The SBDM is responsible for building and converting a project pipeline that drives SEP’s revenue, managing the full project lifecycle from prospecting to contract close and handover, working alongside the Strategy & Programme Lead and Private Sector BD role.
Key responsibilities:

Own and manage energy infrastructure pipeline across public and private sectors in Coventry
- Originate opportunities across E.ON’s full product range
- Achieve defined NPV and EBITDA financial targets
- Monitor market policies, funding, and competitor activity
- Identify and engage senior clients and stakeholders
- Develop structured account plans for key clients
- Manage relationships with public sector bodies and private developers
- Coordinate internally across multiple E.ON teams for seamless delivery
- Lead deal development: concept, financial modelling, risk assessment, and contract negotiation
- Ensure smooth handover from commercial to delivery teams
- Contribute to Coventry SEP team strategy and plans
- Support scaling of city partnership model to other locations
- Drive market positioning and thought leadership in city-scale energy infrastructure
- Promote good governance, compliance, and team collaboration
- Exercise significant autonomy in client management and deal progression
- Accountable for high-value commercial outcomes and pipeline performance
