About the Role:
As a Band 5 Mental Health Nurse, you will play a crucial role in assessing, managing, and supporting the mental health of prisoners. You will work as part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team, delivering person-centred care, conducting mental health assessments, and contributing to rehabilitation and recovery.
You will be responsible for providing high-quality mental health nursing care, crisis intervention, medication management, and supporting health promotion initiatives in a secure and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct mental health assessments and develop person-centred care plans.

Provide crisis intervention and de-escalate challenging situations.

Administer prescribed medications and monitor for side effects.

Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and prison staff to deliver holistic care.

Promote recovery-focused approaches and support rehabilitation.

Contribute to health promotion activities and raise awareness of mental health issues.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with legal and professional standards.
Who We're Looking For:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate, and skilled individual with the following:

Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with current NMC registration.

Essential Prison Clearance

A genuine interest in working in a secure environment and supporting vulnerable individuals.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Experience of managing mental health crises and supporting people with a range of mental health conditions.
