Our automotive client based in the Gatwick area is seeking an ambitious and motivated Workshop Manager to lead their busy workshop operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Vehicle Technician, Senior Technician, Master Technician, Workshop Controller, or Team Leader looking to take the next step into a management position. Full support and training will be provided for the right candidate with strong technical knowledge and leadership potential.
The Role
As Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the workshop, ensuring the highest standards of productivity, efficiency, quality, and customer service are maintained.
You will lead and motivate the workshop team, oversee workflow management, and ensure all repair and maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and to manufacturer standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operation of the workshop.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of technicians.
- Ensure efficient workshop loading and productivity.
- Monitor and improve technician performance and efficiency.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control.
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Support recruitment, training, and development of workshop staff.
- Work closely with the Service Department to deliver excellent customer service.
- Manage workshop processes and implement continuous improvements.
- Monitor workshop KPIs, productivity, and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with company and manufacturer standards.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician, Senior Technician, Master Technician, Workshop Controller, Team Leader, or Workshop Manager.
- Strong technical knowledge and diagnostic ability.
- Natural leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A proactive and hands-on management style.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience within a franchised dealership or independent workshop environment would be advantageous.
