Job Summary
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods, primarily using flatbed lorries, across various routes. This role requires a strong focus on safety, punctuality, and customer service, ensuring deliveries are made on time and in excellent condition.
Duties
- Conduct pre-journey checks to ensure vehicle safety and roadworthiness
- Safely load and unload goods, ensuring securement of cargo during transit
- Deliver goods to designated locations within specified timeframes
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs
- Follow all driving regulations and company policies during operations
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery schedules or issues
- Assist with route planning to optimise efficiency and minimise delays
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, preferably with delivery driver experience involving flatbed lorries
- Knowledge of current driving regulations and safety standards in the UK
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as loading/unloading cargo and securing loads on flatbeds
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail for documentation purposes
- Strong communication skills for liaising with clients and team members
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required by operational needs
