Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Nursery Deputy Manager to join our welcoming and passionate team from September 2026. Located between Cardiff and Newport with easy access off the A48/M4.
The ideal candidate will be a fluent Welsh speaker with strong leadership skills and a genuine passion for supporting young children to learn and grow. Our nursery is a spacious building with a dedicated forest school area that encourages outdoor play and learning.
We place a strong emphasis on wellbeing and creating a positive environment for both children and staff. Working closely with the Nursery Manager, the Deputy Manager will help oversee the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring high standards of care, safety, and education are maintained at all times.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Nursery Manager in overseeing daily centre operations, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
- Support staff in delivering high-quality childcare and early childhood education programmes.
- Supervise and lead team members, providing guidance, training, and support to foster professional development.
- Maintain effective communication with parents, children, and staff to promote a positive environment.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures relating to childcare and health & safety standards.
- Organise activities that promote children's learning, development, and wellbeing.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of curriculum activities aligned with early childhood education frameworks.
- Support recruitment, induction, and performance management processes for nursery staff.
- Drive organisational initiatives to improve service quality and operational efficiency.
Experience
- Proven management experience within a nursery or childcare setting.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Extensive experience working directly with children in early childhood environments.
- Knowledge of childcare legislation, health & safety regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Fluent Welsh speaker preferred.
- Experience in working with children of various ages and backgrounds.
Pay: From £32,000.00 per year
