Job Coach

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Job Coach to support young people aged 14–19 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs as they prepare for adulthood, employment and greater independence, within a school in Oldham.
This role involves working closely with learners to develop the confidence, skills and behaviours needed to access further education, training, volunteering and employment opportunities. You will provide personalised support, helping young people identify their strengths, overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes both within education and the wider community.
As a Job Coach, you will build positive relationships with learners and support them in developing employability skills such as communication, teamwork, time management, problem-solving and workplace expectations. You will also work alongside colleagues, families, employers and external agencies to create meaningful opportunities that support learners' future aspirations.
Essential Criteria
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:
- Experience working with young people who have social, emotional, behavioural or additional support needs.
- Knowledge of employability, careers education, supported internships, work experience or vocational learning programmes.
- Experience supporting individuals to overcome barriers to education, training or employment.
- Strong coaching, mentoring and motivational skills.
- The ability to build positive and professional relationships with young people, families, employers and external partners.
- Experience delivering one-to-one and small-group sessions focused on personal development, employability or life skills.
- A proactive and person-centred approach to supporting young people to achieve their goals.
- An understanding of trauma-informed practice and the impact of SEMH needs on learning and progression.
- Excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.
- The ability to work independently, manage a varied workload and contribute effectively as part of a wider team.
- Emotional resilience and the ability to respond calmly and professionally to challenging situations.
- A commitment to promoting independence, confidence and positive outcomes for all learners.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of engaging with employers and supporting learners in workplace settings.
- Knowledge of supported employment models or transition-to-work programmes.
- Experience of developing employability resources, workplace assessments or individual progression plans.
- Relevant qualifications in careers guidance, youth work, education, mentoring, coaching or a related field.
