Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Tandoori Chef to join our vibrant culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary experience, and a deep understanding of food safety standards. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase expertise in traditional Indian cuisine, particularly tandoori cooking, within a dynamic restaurant environment. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing authentic dishes, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of tandoori dishes with authentic flavours and presentation standards.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow during service hours.
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage food production schedules to ensure timely delivery of dishes to customers.
- Collaborate with the restaurant management team to develop new menu items and improve existing recipes.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders when necessary to prevent shortages.
- Ensure all dishes meet quality standards before serving to customers.
- Uphold excellent customer service by assisting serving staff when required and engaging with guests professionally.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Tandoori Chef or similar culinary role specialising in Indian cuisine.
- Demonstrable supervising experience within a busy kitchen environment.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety regulations.
- Experience in food production, team management, and leadership within hospitality settings.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
- Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable, particularly in fast-paced environments.
- Good understanding of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance related to tandoori ovens.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as required by the restaurant schedule.
