Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Butcher Manager to lead our in-store butchery department. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, ensure high standards of food safety and quality, and provide exceptional customer service. This role requires a strong background in food production, culinary skills, and team management within a retail environment. The Retail Butcher Manager will play a key role in maintaining the store’s reputation for premium meat products and delivering a memorable shopping experience for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the butchery department, including stock control, ordering, and inventory management
- Lead and supervise a team of butchers and retail staff, ensuring efficient workflow and high standards of customer service
- Prepare, cut, and package meat products in accordance with food safety regulations and quality standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the butchery area to comply with health and safety guidelines
- Develop and implement sales strategies to promote meat products and increase departmental revenue
- Provide expert advice to customers on meat selection, preparation, and cooking techniques
- Ensure all food safety protocols are adhered to, including proper handling, storage, and labelling of products
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the availability of quality meat products at competitive prices
- Monitor stock levels regularly and place orders to prevent shortages or overstocking
Requirements
- Proven experience in food production, butchery within a retail or restaurant setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulations applicable to meat handling and processing
- Demonstrable leadership skills with experience managing a team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Good communication skills to interact confidently with customers and staff alike
- Previous experience in restaurant or kitchen environments is desirable but not essential
- Formal training or certification in butchery or food preparation is preferred
- A proactive approach to problem-solving coupled with a passion for delivering high-quality products and service
Pay: £35,000.00-£100,000.00 per year
