Alternative Provision Manager
West Berkshire
Responsible for: Crisis Management / Training Education Mentors / Behavioural interventions / Lead Outreach Trips / Engaging 1 to 1 with high need students
Term time only / 40 hours per week / 41 weeks contract ( paid for 52 weeks )
£40,000 to £45,000
Main duties and responsibilities:
This is an exciting opportunity for someone in education to make a real difference to the most affected young people. We are opening a site in West Berkshire for Primary age children struggling in main stream settings.
We are looking for a Manager to come in and help establish the site. This is a rare opportunity to make your mark on special education in West Berkshire.
Behaviour management will be at the forefront of this role and extensive experience in this is essential. We have a strong SLT group and as the service continues to grow we want to add more support.
Qualifications and training
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience working in an alternative provision
- Have relevant, recent behaviour support training.
- An Enhanced DBS – we can process a new one
- QTS status ideally primary
- Team Teach / Positive handling certification / Grey Matters training
- 3 Years + of SEN experience
- Excellent communication skills
- The proactiveness to manage in a rapidly changing education setting
- Behaviour management experience
Experience
The successful candidate will have experience of:
- Working within or Alternative Provision setting
- Experience of working in a behaviour support capacity previously
- Experience of working with vulnerable students
- Experience of diversity and delivery of intervention / support
- Leading and developing mentor staff
- Delivering evidence-based interventions that accelerate learning.
Knowledge and skills
- Be adept at problem-solving, including being able to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Be able to communicate clearly, both written and orally.
- Be organised, accurate and thorough in their work.
- Be dependable, able to follow instructions and respond to management directions.
- Have good working ICT knowledge including Microsoft Office.
- Have a willingness to extend skills through appropriate training.
