Registered Veterinary Nurse (Nights) - Surrey
7 nights on, 7 off | £39,000 starting salary | Specialist referral hospital
When the pace slows, your nursing can truly shine
If you’re a night RVN who prefers calm focus over daytime chaos, and wants the time and support to deliver truly exceptional patient care, this could be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
The Opportunity
We’re working with a specialist referral hospital in Surrey that has built its reputation on one simple principle. Patients deserve outstanding care, and nurses are central to delivering it.
This is not a role where you’re stretched thin or left to cope alone overnight. Instead, you’ll be part of a structured, well-supported night team that prioritises ward-based nursing at the highest level. With orthopaedic, neurological and dental cases, you’ll be caring for complex patients who genuinely benefit from your skill, attention and compassion.
They’re looking for a registered veterinary nurse who enjoys inpatient care, values teamwork, and wants to deepen their clinical expertise. Whether your experience comes from referral, ECC, or strong first opinion practice, what matters most is your mindset and your commitment to doing things properly.
Why This Role Is Different
A Properly Supported Night Team
Three RVNs, three veterinary care assistants, and a vet on-site every night. You are never alone, and you are never the only decision-maker in the room.
Time to Nurse, Not Just React
This is a ward-based role focused on inpatient care. You’ll have the time to monitor, plan, and deliver thoughtful nursing rather than firefighting through a shift.
Exposure to Advanced Cases
Orthopaedic and neurological patients give you the chance to develop skills that go beyond routine nursing. You’ll be involved in complex recoveries and high-level patient management.
Structured and Sustainable Rota
A consistent 7 nights on, 7 nights off pattern means you can truly switch off during your time off and plan your life around work, not the other way round.
Your Journey Here
In Your First Month
You’ll be supported through a full induction, getting to know the hospital, the team, and how overnight care is structured. You’ll build confidence with protocols and patient flow.
In Your First 3 Months
You’ll be managing inpatient care confidently, working closely with your team to deliver consistent, high-quality nursing. You’ll start identifying areas of interest within orthopaedics or neurology.
In Your First 6 Months
You’ll be a trusted and integral part of the night team, contributing to patient care decisions and continuing to develop advanced nursing skills with ongoing support and CPD.
