Age UK North Cumbria Shop - Workington
The role in a nutshell:
To help in the day-to-day running of our charity shops by serving customers, taking donated goods and assisting with sorting and pricing, and general cleaning and tidying.
What will you be doing?
>To serve customers and record purchases on the cash register.
>To sort, hang, ticket and size donated clothing.
> To use the steam press to prepare clothing for sale, in which full training will be given.
> To sort, wash, and polish, and in other ways prepare donated goods for sale.
> Assist with window displays under the direction of the shop manager.
> Replace stock in the shop under the direction of the shop manager.
> To contribute to keeping the shop clean and tidy by vacuuming, dusting/polishing, and emptying bins.
> To undertake any other tasks to assist the shop manager as and when necessary.
> Help customers find information and pass queries onto relevant Age UK North Cumbria staff.
> Take telephone messages when necessary.
> To inform the shop manager, or other person in charge, of any complaints or difficulties from members of the public.
> To support the Gift Aid process by enquiring whether a donating customer would like to use Gift Aid on their donations.

> Ongoing support & supervision by service managers
> Invited to volunteering events and social events arranged by Age UK North Cumbria.
Why do we need volunteers in this role?
Our shops provide vital income for us to deliver our services for older people within Cumberland and Eden, volunteers are essential for providing great customer care and a lovely retail environment for customers.
Additional information:
Volunteers are needed between 10 am - 4 pm, any spare time given in that period would be amazing!
Minimum of 4 hours per week (more would be appreciated!) for at least 6 months, this commitment is important as you will be developing a relationship with the team.
Volunteer expenses for travel (car mileage) are reimbursed as per our Volunteer Expenses Policy.
