Job Summary
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver specialising in walking floor operations to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting goods using a trailer with a walking floor system, ensuring timely deliveries and collections across various locations. Duties
- Operate HGV Class 1 lorries equipped with walking floor systems, primarily for the transportation of waste materials.
- Conduct pre-journey safety checks and ensure the vehicle is maintained in optimal condition.
- Unload materials using walking floor mechanisms, ensuring security of loads according to safety standards.
- Plan routes effectively to meet delivery schedules while adhering to legal driving hours and regulations.
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and vehicle logs.
- Follow all health and safety protocols during loading, transit, and unloading processes.
- Communicate professionally with dispatch teams and clients regarding delivery times and any issues encountered during transit.
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence with relevant driving experience.
- Proven experience operating walking floor systems or similar commercial vehicles.
- Delivery driver experience preferred, with a strong understanding of logistics and route planning.
- Good knowledge of road safety regulations and compliance standards within the UK.
- Ability to handle physical tasks associated with loading and unloading cargo safely.
- Excellent organisational skills, punctuality, and a professional attitude towards customer service.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required, including early mornings or weekends if necessary.
