Purpose of the Role
The Accounts Assistant will support the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation, ensuring that financial records are maintained accurately and efficiently. The role will focus on invoicing, credit control, account reconciliations, and general finance administration, while providing support to the wider finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise and issue sales invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Monitor outstanding debts and proactively chase overdue payments via telephone, email, and written correspondence.
- Maintain accurate debtor records and customer account information.
- Investigate and resolve invoice and payment queries.
- Process purchase invoices and ensure they are correctly recorded.
- Reconcile customer and supplier accounts.
- Assist with bank reconciliations and the allocation of payments.
- Support month-end and year-end finance processes.
- Prepare financial reports and debtor ageing reports as required.
- Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems.
- Assist with payroll administration and other finance-related tasks when required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and financial procedures.
- Provide general administrative support to the finance department.
Person Specification
Essential
- Previous experience in an accounts, finance, or administrative role.
- Good understanding of invoicing and credit control processes.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines.
Desirable
- Experience using accounting software.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and finance procedures.
- AAT qualification or willingness to work towards a finance qualification.
