Duties
- Provide personal care to clients including washing, bathing, dressing, grooming, and continence support
- Administer and prompt medication accurately and in line with individual care plans
- Prepare nutritious meals and support clients with eating, drinking, and hydration
- Deliver companionship and emotional support, building genuine trusted relationships with every client
- Assist with light household tasks including cleaning, laundry, and shopping errands
- Support clients with dementia, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and palliative or end-of-life care needs
- Escort and accompany clients to GP appointments, hospital visits, and community activities
- Reside within the client's home and provide continuous, around-the-clock support throughout the placement
- Support elderly clients with mobility, daily routines, and meaningful activities that promote wellbeing and independence
- Liaise with families, healthcare professionals, and the PSL coordination team regarding client wellbeing and any changes in condition
- Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment in every client's home
- Complete accurate, timely care records and daily logs after every visit or shift
- Report any concerns, incidents, or changes in a client's condition promptly to the care coordinator
Experience
Essential:
- A caring, compassionate, patient, and reliable nature — this matters more than qualifications
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work flexibly including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (PSL will support the application process)
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable:
- Previous experience in domiciliary care, live-in care, or elderly support (welcome but not essential — full induction and training provided)
- Experience supporting clients with dementia, complex care needs, or end-of-life care
- Care Certificate, NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification
- Experience working on extended live-in placements (typically 2–4 weeks on, 2 weeks off)
- Understanding of CQC standards, safeguarding, and person-centred care
