About the Role
Brighton Forward is seeking an experienced, organised and highly motivated teacher to support our specialist post-16 SEND and KS4 Alternative Provision.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with autism, SEND and SEMH needs through personalised, practical and relationship-based learning.
The Facilitator plays a key operational and quality assurance role within the provision. You will support staff, oversee daily organisation, monitor student progress, ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and help maintain high expectations across teaching, learning and behaviour.
You will work closely with the leadership team to ensure students receive consistent, high-quality support that prepares them for adulthood, independence, employability and community inclusion.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Staff Support
· Provide day-to-day oversight and support for facilitators and session staff
· Ensure staff understand expectations, routines, responsibilities and safeguarding procedures
· Model professional practice, high expectations and positive communication
· Support staff with organisation, behaviour strategies, planning and student engagement
· Share effective practice and contribute to a coaching-led team culture
· Monitor punctuality, professionalism and consistency across the provision
Teaching, Learning & Student Progress
· Support delivery of engaging, differentiated and meaningful learning activities
· Ensure sessions link to EHCP outcomes, Personal Learning Journey (PLJ) targets and Preparation for Adulthood outcomes
· Promote independence, communication, emotional regulation and life skills through practical learning experiences
· Monitor the quality of planning, marking, assessment and evidence collection
· Ensure literacy and numeracy are embedded within everyday learning opportunities
· Support staff to use trauma-informed, restorative and relational approaches consistently
Assessment & Quality Assurance
· Monitor evidence to ensure all students have regular, high-quality progress records
· Ensure evidence demonstrates clear progression towards EHCP outcomes and targets
· Support staff to accurately log progress using the correct systems and grading
· Monitor student folders, marking, feedback and moderation evidence
· Identify gaps in evidence, progress or target coverage and support staff to address them
· Contribute to EHCP reviews, PEP meetings, reports and inspection-ready documentation
Safeguarding & Compliance
· Maintain high standards of safeguarding and student wellbeing at all times
· Ensure concerns are logged immediately and reported to DSL/DDSL in line with safeguarding procedures
· Monitor the professional and factual use of BromCom systems for safeguarding, behaviour and communication records
· Support attendance follow-up and communication with families, external agencies and commissioning schools
· Ensure the environment remains safe, organised and ready for learning
Operational Responsibilities
· Support oversight of timetables, staffing arrangements, transitions and offsite activities
· Help maintain clear communication across the team throughout the college day
· Support organisation of resources, petty cash systems, procurement requests and site standards
· Ensure students are supervised appropriately and staff deployment supports safety and engagement
Essential Requirements
· Experience working with young people with SEND, autism and/or SEMH needs
· Experience supporting or leading staff within education, SEND
· Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and professional boundaries
· Excellent organisation, communication and teamwork skills
· Ability to maintain high expectations while building positive, therapeutic relationships
· Confident using digital systems for recording progress, communication and safeguarding
· Ability to work flexibly within a busy specialist provision
· Right to work in the United Kingdom
Desirable
· Experience within post-16 SEND
· Experience with EHCPs, Preparation for Adulthood outcomes and personalised learning
· Experience using Earwig, BromCom or similar systems
· Knowledge of trauma-informed and restorative practice
· Experience supporting quality assurance, moderation or staff coaching
· Safeguarding or DSL training
