Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Health Care Assistant to provide exceptional care and support to our residents. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering personalised care in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings. This role involves working closely with patients to promote their well-being, independence, and comfort, ensuring a high standard of care is maintained at all times. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those requiring specialised support, including individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's, or those receiving hospice care.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive patient care, including assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility.
- Administer medication and manage treatment plans in accordance with healthcare protocols.
- Support residents with meal preparation and feeding as needed, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Assist with behavioural management strategies for patients with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a caring environment.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in health status to senior staff.
- Support with light housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Drive residents when required for appointments or outings, adhering to safety regulations.
- Respond promptly to emergencies using first aid skills when necessary.
- Assist with hospice or end-of-life care, respecting the dignity and wishes of each individual.
Requirements
- Prior experience in nursing home care, assisted living, or home care environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s, dementia, and behavioural management techniques.
- Proven ability in medication administration and basic first aid procedures.
- Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate approach towards elderly or vulnerable individuals.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when assisting residents with mobility needs.
- Valid driving licence preferred for transportation responsibilities.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work shifts that may include evenings or weekends if required.
- A recognised qualification in health and social care (e.g., NVQ Level 3) is advantageous but not essential.
