We are seeking a motivated IT Assistant to join UK NEQAS Haematology & Transfusion, an internationally recognised External Quality Assessment service based at Croxley Park, Watford.
This is a permanent, full-time post working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.
The post holder will provide day-to-day IT support across the unit, maintain our websites, assist in the procurement and deployment of IT hardware and software, and support software testing and documentation.
You will receive direction and task assignment from the Band 7 IT Technical Engineer & Developer and work within a small, specialist IT team supporting and improving our service.
You will investigate and troubleshoot hardware and software problems, maintain and update the organisation’s information website, and assist in the maintenance of cloud servers and network infrastructure.
You will deploy and monitor hardware and software, maintain PCs, laptops, and VoIP devices, and assign licensing and permissions in line with unit policies.
You will assist scientific and office staff in developing testing plans for new or updated software, help write and maintain IT-specific SOPs, and support the preparation of specifications for bespoke software changes. A BSc in Computer Studies or equivalent experience is essential, along with proven IT support and web maintenance skills.
With a new hospital planned for Watford, work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital and plans for a neighbourhood healthcare centre in Hemel Hempstead, this is an exciting time to join us.

You will act as the main point of contact with the West Herts Trust IT helpdesk, liaise with third-party software and hardware suppliers and the Department of Clinical Informatics, and provide first-line support for participant-facing systems.
You will undertake change control and risk assessment for IT initiatives, support systems resilience testing and software validation, and assist in the planning of IT service developments under the direction of senior IT staff.
You will train non-IT staff on general applications and new systems, advise colleagues on IT matters in your area of expertise, and support administrative tasks related to software contracts and database hosting.
