Hours: 37.5 per week, between Monday to Friday
Pay rate: £25.71 per hour (exc WTD)
Placement length: 6 months
We have an opportunity for a Band 7 Highly Specialist Physiotherapist in our Children’s Physiotherapy Team, and we would like you to join us if you have the skills! You will join our well-established Children’s Physiotherapy service which supports children aged 0-19 years and will work in providing support to the Physiotherapy team across all community settings in the Sunderland and South Tyneside locality.
Role Details:
· To work as an autonomous practitioner within the Paediatric service using advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide, highly specialist physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and advice to an independently managed caseload which will incorporate complex presentation of conditions. Practice will incorporate collaborative working with and guiding specialist physiotherapy staff.
· To take a lead role in clinical practice issues, raising the profile of the service offering; highly specialist advice to planning and service development teams to assist in the implementation of service improvements.
· To develop the clinical education of staff within the specialism and be responsible for the supervision of unqualified, newly qualified Physiotherapists and undergraduates who work under your direct supervision.
· To offer a pathway for the speciality management of paediatric complex cases by facilitating timely and appropriate intervention.
· To assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack the capacity to consent to treatment.
· To formulate, evaluate and reassess individualised physiotherapy management and / or treatment plans, using clinical reasoning skills and utilising a wide range of treatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme of care.
· Use specialist assessment and advanced clinical reasoning skills to plan safe, effective and appropriate individualised physiotherapy treatment supported by evidence-based practice within all community settings when providing ongoing care.
The Successful Candidate Will:
· Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
· Be HCPC registered.
· Have comprehensive experience within Paediatric Physiotherapy at senior level incorporating experience within a range of specialisms within Paediatric Physiotherapy.
· Have highly specialist knowledge of specialist assessment tools relevant to Paediatric Physiotherapy.
· The post holder will be required to undertake frequent moving and handling of patients as well as the lifting of equipment. This will often be throughout the day, with moderate physical activity lasting 30 – 60 minutes.
· In depth knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic assessments and interventions & an ability to compare & contrast relative benefits.
- Demonstrate skills in highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and development of care plans, where clients have highly complex needs.
In addition to experience, all Qualified roles will be required to provide evidence of

· Registration with the relevant Registration Body if applicable.
