JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for compassionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated individuals to join our team as Apprentice Care Assistants. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a rewarding career in Health and Social Care while completing a recognised apprenticeship qualification.
As an Apprentice Care Assistant, you will work alongside experienced care professionals, gaining valuable skills, practical experience, and industry-recognised training while earning a salary. You will provide care and support to individuals living in their own homes, helping them maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life.
Your duties will include:
- Assisting service users with personal care, including washing, dressing, grooming and toileting.
- Supporting individuals with mobility and transfers where required.
- Assisting with meal preparation and encouraging healthy nutrition and hydration.
- Supporting service users with medication in line with company policies and training.
- Providing companionship and emotional support.
- Assisting with light household tasks such as cleaning, laundry and shopping.
- Accompanying service users to appointments and community activities where appropriate.
- Maintaining accurate records and reporting concerns to senior staff.
- Promoting independence, choice, dignity and respect at all times.
- Following safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and infection control procedures.
No previous care experience is required as full training, structured learning, mentoring and ongoing support will be provided throughout the apprenticeship.
SKILLS / PERSONAL QUALITIES
Essential:
- Must be 17 years of age or over.

Desirable:
- Previous voluntary or work experience in a caring role.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as travel between clients' homes may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- GCSE Maths Grade 3 (or equivalent).
- GCSE English Grade 3 (or equivalent).
- Successful completion of the College entrance aptitude assessment.
WORKING HOURS
- Permanent contract.
- Shifts between 7:00am – 2:00pm or 4:00pm – 10:00pm.
- Hours worked on a rota basis and may include weekends.
- Pay rate: £8.00 per hour.
- Holiday entitlement: 5.6 weeks per year.
FUTURE PROSPECTS
Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a permanent Care Assistant position. Apprentices will gain a nationally recognised qualification, valuable industry experience and opportunities for further training and career progression within the Health and Social Care sector.
