This is a 4-bed children's home, rated Good by Ofsted, supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), Learning Difficulties, and Behavioural Difficulties. We are seeking positive, engaging, and energetic individuals who can build meaningful relationships, encourage participation, and act as positive role models.
The young people enjoy a wide range of activities, including festivals and concerts, basketball, arts and crafts, paintballing, go-karting, arcades, swimming, seaside trips, skate parks, trampoline parks, markets, theme parks, nature walks, meals out, and dance activities. We are looking for staff who are enthusiastic about supporting young people in accessing and enjoying these experiences while promoting confidence, independence, and personal development.
As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a key role in promoting safety, setting clear and consistent boundaries, building trust, and supporting young people to develop resilience, confidence, and life skills through a trauma-informed approach.
Role Overview
As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in the daily lives of Looked After Children, providing care, support, and guidance. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to create individualised care plans and implement therapeutic interventions. Your patience, empathy, and strong communication skills will help you manage challenging behaviours and support the young people's emotional, social, and developmental needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and supervision to young people with emotional, behavioural, and learning difficulties.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with young people, fostering trust, stability, and security.
- Implement and follow individualised care plans, ensuring each young person's needs are met.
- Manage and respond to challenging behaviour using appropriate strategies and interventions.
- Support young people in their educational, social, and recreational activities.
- Encourage participation in community-based activities and experiences.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in regular training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, external agencies, and families to ensure a holistic approach to care.
Shift Pattern
Shifts operate on a rota basis and include:
- Late Shift: 10:00am – 10:30pm
- Sleep-in: 10:00pm – 11:00pm

Qualifications and Experience
- Level 3 residential childcare qualification.
- Previous experience working with children with complex needs, emotional and behavioural difficulties, or learning difficulties.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
