We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Support Worker to join our team, providing high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with complex needs, including those who display behaviours that challenge. The successful candidate will support individuals to live as independently as possible while promoting their safety, dignity, and wellbeing.
This role requires experience in supporting individuals with challenging behaviour, administering medication, and, where trained and authorised, administering buccal midazolam for emergency seizure management. You will work closely with service users, families, and healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional care in accordance with individual support plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support to individuals with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, epilepsy, or other complex care needs.
- Support individuals who display behaviours that challenge using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and de-escalation techniques.
- Administer prescribed medication safely and accurately in line with company policies, including buccal midazolam where trained and competent.
- Monitor and record individuals' physical, emotional, and behavioural wellbeing, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Assist with personal care, including washing, dressing, continence care, and mobility support while maintaining dignity and respect.
- Support individuals with daily living activities, meal preparation, household tasks, budgeting, shopping, and accessing the community.
- Encourage independence, choice, and social inclusion while promoting individual goals and outcomes.
- Maintain accurate care records, incident reports, medication records (MAR charts), and daily notes.
- Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality support.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and health and safety policies at all times.
- Respond calmly and appropriately during emergencies, including seizure management and behavioural incidents.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year's experience working as a Support Worker or Healthcare Assistant supporting individuals with complex needs and behaviours that challenge.
- Experience administering medication is essential.
- Training and competency in Buccal Midazolam Administration is essential (or willingness to undertake training before commencing the role).
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and person-centred care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Good written English and basic IT skills for accurate record keeping.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A valid UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.

Pay: £13.50-£18.00 per hour
