Located in the heart of South Hertfordshire's thriving Jewish community, Borehamwood & Elstree Synagogue (BES) is the largest community within the United Synagogue. Set within our own Eruv and surrounded by Jewish schools, shops and eateries, BES has become home to over 1,000 children and youth across our two vibrant sites - BES@Croxdale and BES@Yavneh.
As our community continues to flourish, we are seeking two dynamic Youth Directors to inspire and engage young people aged 11-18 through innovative programming that combines authentic Jewish life with exciting social and educational experiences.
We need passionate individuals who can lead engaging Shabbat and Yom Tov services, deliver thought-provoking educational sessions, and create memorable events that foster community spirit. The ideal candidates will have experience working with youth, strong communication skills, and the ability to connect with both religious and non-committed young people.
Essential skills include the ability to lead prayer services confidently, experience in youth programming, and a deep understanding of Orthodox Judaism and Jewish values. Leining ability is desirable but not essential.
Part-time positions (16 hours per week) including Shabbat and festival services
Salary: £27,344.00 pro Rata, (£12,500.00 pa actual)
Your time will be divided between Shabbat programming (35%), educational activities (30%), festival programming (20%), and community outreach (15%). You'll work closely with our Rabbinic Team and liaise with Tribe, the United Synagogue's youth division.
