Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant to support children with diverse learning needs within an educational setting. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and specialists to provide tailored assistance to pupils, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning programmes for pupils with SEN, including those with autism and other disabilities
- Support children with daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being during lessons and break times
- Implement behavioural strategies and interventions as directed by specialists or teaching staff
- Facilitate communication between pupils and staff, encouraging social interaction and participation in class activities
- Provide one-to-one support for children requiring additional assistance, including toddlers or early years learners
- Help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes confidence and independence among pupils
- Support the organisation of classroom resources and materials to ensure smooth lesson delivery
- Monitor pupil progress and report observations to teachers or SEN coordinators
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with autism, disabilities, or in special education settings is desirable
- Proven ability to work effectively with children of various ages, including toddlers
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with pupils, teachers, parents, and external professionals
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to meet the diverse needs of learners
- Ability to implement behaviour management strategies sensitively and consistently
- Organised and proactive in supporting classroom activities and individualised learning plans
- Enthusiastic about contributing positively to an inclusive educational environment
