The post holder will be responsible for the planning and delivery of Entry level - Level 2 Functional Skills to young people aged between 14– 25 with an education, health and care plan.
This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to deliver Maths and English in a vocational way, having access to a variety of animals in a relaxed, but professional setting.
The post holder will join our Pastoral team in delivering a Thrive curriculum and carrying out wellbeing check ins with our students, to support their mental health and wellbeing. You will work closely with students, families and colleagues with warmth, expertise and care. You will play an integral role in ensuring that every young person receives the support, encouragement and tailored strategies they need to flourish.
Person Specification
We would like to welcome someone who is passionate about educating young people in a nurturing environment and has experience working with young people with an EHCP. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, fun and engaging and eager to share their knowledge in an inspiring way. The post holder must be creative in the way that they deliver qualifications, ensuring that an array of learning styles are catered for. Being a good communicator, compassionate and driven to help young people to meet their individual targets is imperative and having a good sense of humour is essential. Vast experience working with young people with a primary need of anxiety and knowledge of autism and ADHD is essential.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. To plan, teach and assess functional skills.
2. Plan and deliver teaching, learning and assessment, which meet quality targets set internally and externally.
3. Assess portfolios and provide constructive feedback.
4. Design learning materials and assessments to defined quality standards for practical and classroom learning environments.
5. Teach in an age appropriate and nurturing manner.
6. Be considerate of each and every learners needs.
7. Supporting students with a range of learning needs through personalised strategies and interventions.
8. Working collaboratively with tutors and the Pastoral Lead to create inclusive, engaging classroom experiences.
9. Building trusted partnerships with parents and carers.
10. Liaising with external professionals and agencies where appropriate.
11. Monitoring progress and maintaining SEND documentation and support plans.
12. Contribute to a warm and nurturing ethos where wellbeing and confidence are prioritised.
13. Be driven and motivated to teach and inspire.
14. To maintain resources and prepare and set up physical materials
15. To develop schemes of work and lesson plans in accordance with the qualification delivery and enrichment programmes.
16. To design and deliver engaging activities that encompass functional skills.
17. Keep accurate, up to date records on student progress.
18. Inform the directors on student progress.
19. Take part in team meetings and other meetings as required.
20. To provide high quality pastoral support
21. To ensure all students are aware and adhere to of the health and safety guidelines.
22. Contribute to procedures and quality assurance measures.
23. Supervise and engage with students during unstructured break times.
24. Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people they are responsible for, or come into contact with.
25. Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the directors.
