Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced HGV Driver to join the logistics team, working for a well established client based in Barnsley. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting goods to various destinations, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism. Responsibilities
- Plan and follow efficient delivery routes to ensure timely arrivals at designated locations.
- Operate curtainsider or fridge trailer, ensuring load is secured properly during transit.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members regarding delivery schedules or issues encountered on the road.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols, including compliance with legal driving hours and load limits.
- Trunking and/or deliveries, 1 - 3 drops per shift maximum
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving
- Strong driving skills with no more than 6 penalty points
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices
- Excellent organisational skills to manage delivery schedules efficiently.
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members.
- Experience in delivery driver roles is preferred, along with familiarity with route planning software. This position is ideal for motivated individuals who take pride in their driving skills and are committed to delivering exceptional service safely and efficiently.
You must have held a valid UK HGV Class 1 licence for over 3 years, have no more than 6 penalty points and have no CD, DD, TT, IN or DR codes.
