The Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics invites applications for a Lecturer in Robotics, Mechatronics and Autonomous Systems to join the School of Engineering. This is an exciting opportunity to strengthen teaching and research in this area, while developing a distinctive, externally funded research programme in the electronics and hardware that underpin robotic, mechatronic and autonomous systems. We are particularly interested in candidates who design, build and integrate electronic systems for real-world engineered platforms, including sensing, actuation, embedded control, instrumentation, drive electronics and hardware/software integration.
The post will build on the Department’s established strengths in energy and power systems, communications, signal processing, cyber-physical systems and instrumentation, providing a strong platform for collaborative research in electronics-led robotics, mechatronics and autonomous systems. Complementary application areas may include healthcare technologies, industrial automation, inspection and maintenance, energy and critical infrastructure, and defence and security. The post is full-time on a permanent basis.
Interviews and presentations will take place on Wednesday 5 August 2026 at the University of Liverpool. Please note that we cannot offer an online interview for this post.
