About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Purchase Ledger and Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team. This role is key to ensuring the smooth running of our accounts payable function, supporting invoice processing, resolving queries, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring correct coding and authorisation
- Match invoices to purchase orders and goods received notes (2-way and 3-way matching)
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies promptly
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve differences
- Respond to supplier and customer queries via phone and email in a professional manner
- Support administrative tasks including scanning and archiving documentation
- Assist with month-end processes as required
- Provide general support to the Purchase Ledger Supervisor and wider Finance team
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Good numerical and reconciliation skills
- Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience working in a high-volume invoice processing environment
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and VAT
Desirable
- Experience using accounting systems such as Sage, SAP, Oracle, or similar
- Previous experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role
- Familiarity with purchase order systems
- Interest in further development (AAT training may be available for the right candidate)
