The Kings Head is situated in the historic sailing town of Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight. We are currently recruiting for a sous chef to join our team.
Reporting to the head chef, the successful applicant will have a passion for working with seasonal fresh produce in an often fast passed environment. You will take an active role in menu development, and daily specials as well as consistently cooking meal from our Al a carte menu You will also be an excellent communicator and team player with the ability to motivate and development junior members of the kitchen team.
This position would suit someone who has previously worked in a restaurant or good quality pub environment.
Requirements & Responsibilities:
· To work closely with the Head Chef to ensure efficiently & food is prepared & presented to the highest standards, served efficiently & is consistent.
· The ability to run the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence & perform all management duties.
· Self-motivated with the ability to manage, motivate & train the kitchen team.
· Be organised and have good communication skills.
· Observe all dishes going out to the restaurant & to ensure they are approved before going to the table.
· The ability to monitor stock control & manage GPs, ensuring stock rotation & portion control as well as daily ordering.
· Previous experience of catering for wedding and functions advantageous
· Maintain food hygiene policies and regulations.
· A passion for high quality fresh food and a commitment to great service
· Food & Hygiene certificate, Level 2 or above

This position is full time permanent position based on a 45 hour working week
