About the Role
As a Nursery Room Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of a nursery room, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for children aged 0–5 years.
You will support and guide staff within the room, maintain high standards of practice, and ensure children’s learning and development needs are met in line with the EYFS framework and safeguarding requirements.
The successful candidate must be confident in leading a team, building positive parent relationships, and supporting children to achieve their developmental milestones.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the daily running of the nursery room
- Ensure high standards of care, safeguarding, hygiene, and learning are maintained
- Support children’s learning and development in line with the EYFS framework
- Plan engaging activities tailored to children’s individual needs and interests
- Complete observations, assessments, and learning journals accurately
- Monitor children’s progress and identify any additional support needs
- Support, guide, and motivate nursery practitioners within the room
- Build strong professional relationships with parents and carers
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Work closely with management to ensure compliance with Ofsted requirements
- Promote inclusion, equality, and positive behaviour management
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and parents’ evenings
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years (or above)
- Previous experience working within a nursery setting
- Experience leading or supervising a room/team
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a team
- Passion for delivering high-quality childcare
Desirable Skills
- SEN experience or knowledge
- Paediatric First Aid qualification
- Experience preparing for Ofsted inspections
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
