Long Term Futures is recruiting a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor for a full-time role within a supportive secondary school in Wandsworth. This opportunity is ideal for someone passionate about helping young people overcome behavioural barriers to learning, develop positive relationships, and achieve success both academically and personally.
The successful candidate will work closely with pastoral staff, teaching teams, SEN professionals, and senior leaders to provide targeted behaviour support for students across KS3 and KS4. The role focuses on promoting positive behaviour, improving engagement, and supporting students who may be at risk of exclusion or disengagement from education.
Responsibilities

Providing one-to-one and small group mentoring to students with behavioural, social, and emotional needs.

Supporting students both inside and outside the classroom to improve engagement, focus, and behaviour for learning.

Building positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage personal growth and accountability.

Implementing behaviour support plans and interventions in line with the school's policies and procedures.

De-escalating challenging situations using positive behaviour management strategies.

Supporting students during unstructured times, including breaktimes and transitions around the school.

Working closely with teaching staff to identify and address behavioural barriers to learning.

Monitoring, recording, and reporting on student behaviour, attendance, and progress.

Liaising with parents/carers, pastoral teams, SEN staff, and external agencies where appropriate.

Promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
Essential Candidate Requirements

Previous experience working as a Behaviour Mentor, Pastoral Support Worker, Youth Worker, Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, or in a similar role.

Experience supporting secondary-aged students is desirable.

Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships quickly.

A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach when supporting students with challenging behaviour.

A genuine passion for helping young people succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

The ability to work effectively as part of a wider pastoral and support team.

Must hold a valid enhanced DBS check on the update service.
