Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for food preparation, cooking, and delivering exceptional dining experiences. The Commis Chef will contribute to the smooth operation of the kitchen by assisting in food production, maintaining high standards of food safety, and supporting team management activities.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Support senior chefs in food production, ensuring timely delivery of quality meals
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations
- Supervise junior staff and trainees where necessary, fostering a collaborative team environment
- Monitor stock levels and communicate needs for replenishment to ensure continuous operation
- Contribute to menu planning and development by providing input based on culinary expertise
- Serve food efficiently and courteously to guests when required
- Uphold high standards of hygiene, safety, and cleanliness throughout all kitchen activities
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within hospitality or restaurant settings
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience supervising or managing team members
- Familiarity with food production processes and culinary practices
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork
- Previous experience in restaurant service or serving is advantageous but not essential
- A recognised culinary qualification or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory
