Job Summary
Knotts Bakery is seeking a skilled and passionate Baker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, baking, and presenting a wide range of high-quality breads, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and cleanliness. The Baker will work as part of a team to ensure products are consistently produced to specification and available for customers each day. Typical baker responsibilities include measuring ingredients, mixing doughs and batters, operating baking equipment, monitoring baking processes, maintaining stock levels, and following food hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake breads, rolls, pastries, cakes, and other bakery products according to company recipes and standards.
- Accurately weigh, measure, and mix ingredients.
- Operate bakery equipment including mixers, ovens, proofers, and dough-processing machinery.
- Monitor baking times, temperatures, and product quality throughout the production process.
- Shape, decorate, finish, and package baked goods as required.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness at all times.
- Conduct quality checks on ingredients and finished products.
- Manage stock levels and report ingredient requirements to the Bakery Manager.
- Minimise waste and ensure efficient use of ingredients.
- Assist with the development of new products and seasonal recipes.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet daily production targets.
- Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies.
Skills & Experience Essential
- Previous experience working in a bakery or food production environment.
- Knowledge of bread, pastry, and cake production techniques.
- Understanding of food hygiene and HACCP principles.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work early morning shifts.
Desirable
- Formal bakery, culinary, or food production qualification.
- Experience with artisan bread production.
- Experience in recipe development and product innovation.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25kg.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, warm production environment.
Monday - Friday, 7am-3pm Friday
