Warehouse/Yard Operative
We are currently seeking a Warehouse/Yard Operative to join our team.
The Warehouse/Yard Operative works as part of a team and has responsibility to ensure safe and efficient operation of the yard by safely receiving, storing and despatching materials. The role includes operating fork lift trucks to move goods, maintain accurate stock control and ensuring the yard and stores areas remain organised, clean, safe and compliant with company procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To ensure that the external yard areas are clean, organised and compliant with Health & Safety policies.
- Checking all Fork Lifts Trucks on daily basis and reporting faults to management immediately.
- To ensure that all incoming parts and deliveries are unloaded, matched against delivery notes, checked for defects and appropriately put-away within the stores locations and yard areas and labelled as required. Report any discrepancies to Stores and Procurement.
- Delivering production materials to bays required for production.
- Ensure material storage is securely locked at end of each working day.
- Assisting with stock counts, audits and inventory analysis when required.
- Supporting Stores with promptly and correctly receipting on the ERP system and immediately notify the procurement team if any errors or defects are found.
- Ensure manual handling procedures and followed and work in compliance with all aspects of the Health & Safety policy and good housekeeping practices.
- Ensure equality and diversity is actively promoted in the workplace.
- Any other duty as directed.
Key measures
- Supplier receipts are processed upon delivery of the goods so that the ERP system is always updated with the accurate stock and purchase order position.
- All parts received for the correct department. Parts stored appropriately and in line with expectation.
- Job numbers on order correspond to those input onto system. Correct parts are booked out on the system. Component returns are logged accurately.
- H&S policy is adhered to at all times.
- Appropriately conducts self with colleagues and stakeholders.
- All other duties are completed accurately, timely and in line with procedure.
Essential
- Previous experience working in a stores environment
- Fork Lift Truch licence
- Computer literate – proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel
- Proven ability to work on own initiative
- Excellent verbal communication skills
