Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, support and mentor care workers
- Conduct staff supervisions, appraisals and spot checks
- Assist with the induction and ongoing training of staff
- Promote positive, professional team culture
Care Delivery & Quality Assurance
- Ensure care is delivered in line with individual care plans
- Carry out care reviews and update support plans
- Monitor service quality and address any concerns promptly
- Support safe medication practices (where applicable)
Service Coordination
- Respond to changes in service users’ needs
- Participate in on call duties
- Ensure continuity of care and timely service delivery
- Provide operational support during evenings and weekends as required
- Assist with rota planning and allocation of care visits in the absence of the scheduler
Compliance & Regulation
- Ensure services comply with standards set by the Care Inspectorate
- Follow guidelines from the Scottish Social Services Council
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Support audits, inspections and risk assessments
Safeguarding and Health & Safety
- Promote safeguarding and protection of vulnerable adults
- Report and manage incidents, accidents and concerns
- Ensure staff follow health & safety policies and procedures
- Conduct risk assessments within service user’s homes
Communication & Partnership Working
- Liaise with families, healthcare professionals and external agencies
- Maintain clear and effective communication with staff and management
- Represent the service in meetings where required
Supervisory Duties
- Staff supervisions should be carried out quarterly. Two of these meetings should be observing the carer at work and the other two meetings should be face to face formal or informal meetings. All records should be noted on Birdie and future planned meetings entered. Carers are required to have an annual appraisal this should also be recorded on Birdie.
- All clients should have 4 spot checks carried out each year. These are unannounced client visits done whilst carers are present and should be recorded on Birdie with the relevant findings.
Schedule
- Working 5 days out of 7, including rotational weekends (Pro-rata for Part Time candidates)
- Full time 40 hour contract or part time 20 hour contract
Experience
- One year experience as a Social Care Supervisor or Team Leader (desirable)
- Two years experience in the care at home sector (desirable)
- SVQ 3, or are working towards qualification (desirable)
- Full UK Driving License and access to own vehicle (essential)
