The Role,
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced Solar O&M Electrician to join a growing Operations and Maintenance team. Based in Reading, you will cover the Home Counties and South East region, with occasional travel further afield. This role involves maintaining, fault-finding, servicing and repairing commercial and domestic solar PV systems, battery storage systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
Main Duties:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) visits on solar PV and battery storage systems
- Diagnosing and rectifying faults on PV systems, inverters, optimisers, batteries and monitoring platforms
- Performing electrical testing and inspection works
- Completing reactive maintenance and emergency call-outs where required
- Producing clear service reports and photographic records
- Liaising professionally with customers, site managers and subcontractors
- Supporting commissioning and remedial works when required
- Ensuring all works are completed safely and in accordance with BS7671, MCS and company procedures
Required:
- Fully qualified electrician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- 18th Edition qualification
- Strong fault-finding abilities
- Full UK driving licence
- Comfortable working at height and outdoors
- Good communication and organisational skills
- ECS Gold Card
- Strong customer service skills and confidence in customer-facing situations
- Proficient in the use of IT and CRM systems
Desirable:
- City and Guilds 2391 Testing and Inspection qualification
- BPEC or LCL Awards qualifications in Solar PV, Battery Storage and EV Charging installations
- Experience at domestic residential, commercial, ground mount and utility-scale PV sites
- Experience with battery storage systems and EV charging equipment
- IPAF, PASMA or working at height qualifications
- Knowledge of monitoring platforms and remote diagnostics
