Job Overview
FEMALE ONLY COMPLEX CARE PACKAGE
Supporting a 33-year-old woman with muscular dystrophy and complex health needs, including respiratory conditions, hyperthyroidism, cardiac concerns, mobility limitations, and mental health support needs. The role involves providing person-centred care and full assistance with all activities of daily living while promoting independence, choice, and wellbeing.
Responsibilities include supporting with personal care, dressing, showering, toileting, meal preparation and feeding, as well as safe transfers using a ceiling track hoist. The individual uses a powered wheelchair and requires support both within the home and when accessing the community.
Carers must be confident in supporting respiratory care, including the use of non-invasive ventilation (NIV) equipment overnight and a cough assist machine as part of a daily respiratory management plan. Staff are required to respond promptly to equipment alarms, monitor for signs of respiratory deterioration, and follow care plans relating to chest infection prevention and management.
The individual enjoys arts and crafts, creative activities, and spending time outdoors with her pet dog. Support workers will be encouraged to participate in these interests and assist with community access, including daily walks and social activities.
Building a positive therapeutic relationship is a key aspect of this role. The ideal carer will be compassionate, engaging, and committed to providing high-quality care while supporting social interaction, emotional wellbeing, and an active lifestyle.
Key Responsibilities
Support with washing, dressing and personal care.
Record notes after each visit
Follow the care plan and report any concerns to the office team
