OT Assistant / Student OT – Paediatric Summer Camp (One Week)
July 20-24th 2026, 0930 - 1500 daily
A rare one-week paid opportunity to work at a specialist paediatric summer camp for children with Down's Syndrome, alongside an experienced Sensory Integration OT.
Based at Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff, you will support 21 children aged 8–14 across a structured daily programme including sport, group sessions, sensory regulation support and 1:1 OT input — under the guidance and support of our SI OT.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the lead OT across group and 1:1 sessions with children with Down's Syndrome
- Providing sensory regulation support and managing the OT room for children who need to step away
- Assisting with functional skills activities including handwriting and use of cutlery
- Supporting children during sport sessions and structured camp activities
- Contributing to brief post-session notes and parent feedback summaries
Criteria
- Available for all 5 days (Monday to Friday, 20–24 July) — Essential
- Recent (within 6 months) Enhanced DBS check or on the Update Service Essential
- Current student OT, qualified OTA, or equivalent experience e.g. Activity Support worker
- Experience with or interest in paediatrics care and sensory processing
- Comfortable working with children with learning disabilities and complex needs
- Warm, playful and calm approach — this is a camp environment
- Previous experience with Down's Syndrome or neurodivergent children
- Sensory Integration awareness or training
- Experience in camp, school or community settings
