If you are considering a career in teaching, youth work, social work, educational psychology or community leadership, this programme offers powerful hands-on experience in a supportive and structured environment.
About the Role
As a St Helens Youth Worker, you will operate within primary or secondary schools, supporting students to overcome educational challenges and engage confidently with school life.
Sessions typically run Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm, with flexible part-time and full-time options available to fit around your schedule.
You will be fully trained and supported by Zen Educate to ensure you can confidently work in schools and make a measurable difference from day one.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver Learning & Engagement
- Deliver activities and lesson content planned by the school.
- Encourage students to actively engage with the curriculum.
- Support pupils in staying focused, motivated and on task.
Behaviour & Positive Development
- Positively guide students in adopting behaviours that support success inside and outside the classroom.
- Support behaviour plans and reinforce school expectations.
- Promote confidence, resilience and emotional regulation.
Pastoral & Emotional Support
- Act as a consistent, trusted adult presence for students.
- Support pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
- Identify early signs of disengagement and escalate concerns appropriately.
Small Group & 1:1 Support
- Deliver small group interventions where required.
- Provide mentoring-style support to students who need additional encouragement.
- Assist children in overcoming barriers to their education.
Safeguarding & Wellbeing
- Promote and uphold safeguarding practices.
- Ensure students can safely navigate the school day.
- Follow school and Zen Educate safeguarding policies at all times.
Reporting & Collaboration
- Generate structured feedback for the Zen Educate St Helens Youth Worker Team.
- Communicate effectively with school staff to ensure continuity of support.
- Contribute ideas on how students can get the best from their education.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking graduates who:
- Have recently graduated or are about to graduate from university.
- Have either:
- At least one year working within the UK education system, or
- Have attended a state or private school in the UK or Ireland.
- Are passionate about supporting young people.
- Demonstrate resilience, emotional intelligence and strong communication skills.
- Are confident leading and managing groups of students.
- Want practical experience in education before deciding on their long-term career path.
