Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will provide essential assistance to patients and residents in various care settings, including nursing homes, care homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments. This role involves supporting individuals with diverse needs, promoting their well-being, and ensuring they receive high-quality care. Responsibilities
- Assist with daily personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Support medication administration in accordance with care plans and protocols
- Help with meal preparation and feeding as required, ensuring nutritional needs are met
- Monitor and document patients’ health status, behaviour, and progress
- Engage residents in social activities and therapeutic exercises to promote mental and emotional well-being
- Follow care plans meticulously, including specific requirements for Alzheimer’s, dementia, or hospice care
- Manage behaviour management strategies to support residents with challenging behaviours
- Assist with light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Support patients with mobility issues by using appropriate lifting techniques and equipment
- Drive or accompany residents to appointments or outings when necessary
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Skills
- Proven experience in nursing home, care home, or home care environments is highly desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic nursing procedures such as medication administration
- Strong understanding of Alzheimer’s, dementia, hospice care, and behaviour management techniques
- Excellent caregiving skills with a compassionate approach towards vulnerable individuals
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for patient mobility support
- Good organisational skills to follow detailed care plans accurately
- Effective communication skills for liaising with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Valid driving licence is advantageous for transporting residents or attending appointments
- First aid certification is preferred but not essential; training can be provided for the right candidate
